Kizimbani Agricultural Training Institute library is located at the administrative block. The library has more than 2,472 copies of text books and 456 copies of journals. The library is not subscribing to any referred journal; although it has access to the Global On line Research in Agriculture (AGORA), Health Research Programme (HINARI), Online Access to Research in the Environment (OARE) and The Essential Electronic Agricultural Library (TEEAL). It is expected that the demand for library services would increase and this calls for improvement of library space, supplies and services.

Open to KATI staff, students, researchers, professionals, educational institutions, Children of members of staff and other community members subject to the approval of the Institute Librarian. Membership is free.
Application for membership is made through prescribed forms for the non Institute community and students are registered by librarian in the special system.

The conduct to be followed:

  • Smoking, eating, drinking, and any other misconduct which is a nuisance to other users is prohibited.
  • Writing, defacing or damaging library materials is prohibited.
  • All users should comply with safety regulations displayed on library notice boards
  • Seats may not be reserved
  • Overcoats and bags brought into the library must be deposited in the designated areas.
  • Library materials or personal effects left unattended in the reading area may be removed by library staff.
  • The Institute shall not be held liable for loss or damage of personal effects left by users in any part of the library.
  • No person shall enter or leave the library except via authorised entrance and exit points
  • Any member of the library staff may require any person leaving the library to establish that library materials in his/her possession have been properly borrowed.
  • Borrowers are responsible for protecting any library material in their possession against damage and must report to the Institute Librarian any loss or damage of materials.
  • Application to borrow library materials must be made at the circulation desk by the borrower
  • The following materials may not be borrowed except under special conditions as the Institute Librarian may determine:
    • Books and journals classified as reference.
    • Current journals.
    • Books in the Special Collection Department.
    • Any other materials as the Institute librarian may determine
  • The Institute Librarian may withhold or restrict the circulation of any library materials in the library or transfer from one part of the library to another as circumstances may dictate.
  • No library materials may be borrowed beyond the library control point unless it has been duly issued at the Circulation Desk.
  • A borrower remains responsible for any library material on loan as longs as the loan record remains unchanged.
  • Borrowers are responsible for protecting any library material in their possession against damage and must report to the Institute Librarian any loss or damage of materials.
  • Materials borrowed overnight from the Short Loan Collection shall be returned between 08.00 hours and 09.00hours.
  • Late return of borrowed material will attract a fine of one hundrend shilling (Sh. 100/=) per item for each day the loan is overdue. Ten shillings (Ksh.10.00) per item per hour for short loan material.
  • All staff shall be required to obtain a Library Clearance Certificate before they leave the Institute.
  • Students shall be required to obtain a Library Clearance Certificate before the award of their certificate.
  • Diploma / Certificate: Up to 3 books for 2 weeks
  • Researchers: Up to 6 books for 2 weeks
  • Academic /Senior administrative staff: Up to 4 books for 1 month
  • Non Institute Community members: Up to 2 books for 1 weeks subject to approval of the Institute Librarian
  • Children of staff members can only borrow materials through their parents and the same rules and conditions shall apply
